Spring Growth Ahead for E-readers

Techstination feature for Monday, January 25, 2010

The number of E-readers will grow this spring. I'm Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. The electronic book category... where Amazon's Kindle has been slugging it out with Sony's Reader and the Nook from Barnes and Noble...will be getting more crowded this spring. On the low end, Audiovox plans to introduce the Lexi. The first model, says President Tom Malone...will download books through PCs...and will be priced at the low end...

"We are targeting 229 dollars retail. We're looking at late spring for introduction."

On the opposite end of the price spectrum will be Plastic Logic's Que proReader...with a sleek 8 and a half by 11 inch screen. VP Daren Benzi...

"This will come to market, we'll start shipping these in April. There's a WiFi only version that is 649. This model has WiFi and 3G and 8 gigabytes of memory. And it's 799."

The proReader does ...as it should for that price...quite a bit more than a typical e-reader. You can find more information at Que.com. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I'm Fred Fishkin.
