Swimming with an iPhone? I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. A company called LifeProof has entered the crowded business of making cases for the iPhone 4. But only a handful of manufacturers make ruggedized and waterproof cases and LifeProof has done it in a way that is sleek and tough. CEO Gary Rayner…
“The LifeProof case actually provides all of the drop protection, but you can go swimming underwater with it and take underwater movies of the children. You can get it covered in mud or butter and flour when you’re cooking and then put it in the sink and wash it up with the dishes when you’re done. And you can, of course, give it to your kids without any worry because, pretty much, sand or ice cream or anything else is no challenge to it.”
The protection doesn’t come cheap, about seventy dollars, but for the peace of mind it can be worthwhile. An iPad version is in the works. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
