A home security camera that monitors air quality too. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. The French technology company Withings has a knack for avoiding the me too syndrome we see all too often in consumer electronics. They create with innovation and style. The Withings Activite’ and Activite’ Pop fitness watches are good examples. And so is the new Withings Home camera. Senior Marketing Manager Arielle Carpenter says beyond the camera, with motion and noise detection, Home monitors the air quality through built in sensors…
“So the sensors are for VOCs, which is volatile organic compounds. These are different particles in the air that you can’t see, but it’s really unique because it will be identified by these sensors and it will set off different alerts based on anything ranging from cooking to smoking to cleaning materials to cosmetic products.”
The Withings Home is a small cylinder with a wood grain finish and sells for about two hundred dollars. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
