Apple stirs things up with new MacBook Pros

Techstination feature for Wednesday, November 9, 2016

Apple stirs up some controversy with new notebooks.   I’m Fred Fishkin with BootCamp, your Techstination for gadgets and gear.   As it did by ditching the standard headphone jack on the iPhone 7, Apple is stirring things up again with its new MacBook Pro models.   It features a new touch bar along the top of the keyboard that is tied in to the apps that are running.  Senior VP Phil Schiller…

“It is the new gold standard in notebook computers.  It enables innovations not possible before.  It comes in 13 inch and 15 inch sizes in silver and space gray.  And it is simple the thinnest and lightest MacBook Pro we have ever made.”

But gone are familiar features like an SD card slot, the MagSafe adaptor and even the familiar startup chime.   Apple is using USB-C ports for charging and will sell a variety of dongles that will work with them.   Even iPhones and iPads will need a new Lightning to USB-C cable.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
