Online shopping security? Tips from Google.

Techstination feature for Monday, November 28, 2016

Online shopping security.   I’m Fred Fishkin with BootCamp, your Techstination for gadgets and gear.    It’s not just Cyber Monday anymore.   Millions of us are shopping online all of the time.   But at this time of year we’re perhaps more willing to buy bargains from sites we aren’t so sure about.     There are steps you can take to improve the odds that where you’re buying from  is safe.   Google Security Expert Aaron Stein says there are automatic warnings that will pop up in your Chrome browser if you navigate to an unsafe site.   And whenever you are making a purchase…

“You’re going to be going to a number of different Web sites most likely and you want to make sure those sites have an encrypted connection to your Web browser.  And the way to know that is to look for the s in the Web address.  So it should start with https and often that will have a green lock next to it.”

That ensures that your personal data…such as your credit card number is being encrypted.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
