Drones being used to save lives: DJI survey

Techstination feature for Tuesday, March 21, 2017

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.   The publicity around the use of drones isn’t always very favorable, but one of the biggest makers of drones for hobbyists and commercial use wants you to know that they have been involved with saving dozens of lives.   DJI’s Adam Lisberg says the company has been conducting a survey and found many instances where drones have been very useful….

“We’ve seen other headlines in India where dozens of families were saved because people flying drones spotted them and told rescuers how to find them.   We’ve seen lots of other cases where a drone is used in a search for a missing kid or a missing hiker for example.  And even though the drone is what wasn’t finally spotted them, it eliminated entire acres and square miles of area so the searchers could focus on other areas.”

And some forward thinking emergency responders are using them to help save lives at fires and more.
