Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.     The sci fi movie Life has arrived in theaters and it is winning lots of fans.    It’s about the discovery of a life form on Mars…and while we can’t give away too much…it does not go especially well.   Microbiology in space expert Dr. Adam Rutherford served as a science advisor.   And Dr. Rutherford tells us…he is getting pretty excited about the potential for finding life beyond earth for real….

“I think we’re getting to the stage where it’s going to be more surprising if life doesn’t exist in the rest of the universe than if it does.  And so you ask me if I’m excited about it?  Incredibly.  I feel like it’s coming.  I feel like it’s now a very reasonable prospect that within my life we might detect the first non earth life in the rest of the galaxy at least.”
