Amazon buying Whole Foods may speed driverless deliveries

Techstination feature for Tuesday, July 4, 2017

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    I know we’re only half way through 2017, but one of the biggest tech stories of the year is pretty evident.    The planned acquisition of Whole Foods by Amazon.    The technology Amazon will deliver to the supermarket business will be game changing.    And beyond that,  The faculty chair for Autonomous Vehicle Engineering at Princeton University, Alain Kornhauser, says the deal may hasten the arrival of driverless deliveries…likely overnight when there is little traffic.  Kind of the way the milkmen of old used to deliver…

“This is an elegant logistics to then really integrate in here an acceleration of  driverless technology
.”

And he believes it will be a lot easier to implement than delivery drones which Amazon has talked about.
