Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.     Whether you like to fly a drone….or use a home security camera….Intel is out with a new chip designed to make them smarter.   The Movidius Myriad X is what is called a Vision Processing Unit or VPU.    Director of Marketing at Movidius Gary Brown says it is a chip equipped with artificial intelligence…

“So take, for example, a drone.   A drone that is able to avoid a collision with a wall or a tree.   A drone that’s able to take your selfie without even having to control the drone from the joystick controller, you can have it follow you around and center you on the camera and adjust its video capture settings and take selfies.”

Brown says the neural compute engine in the chip is a big step up from the previous generation.  You can find us at Techstination.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
