Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    It’s been five years since Philips had the bright idea of bringing an Internet connected lightbulb system to market.   They were among the pioneers….and today… the Philips Hue family is  continuing to grow.   The bulbs and now fixtures too communicate with a bridge.   There are starter kits of different sizes.   We checked out the Hue White and Color Ambiance Starter Kit…finding installation simple and the system versatile and fun.  It’s compatible with Amazon’s Alexa, Google Home and Apple HomeKit.   Product Marketing Manager Mike Deschamps…

“We have our Hue White portfolio, which kind of our on-off dimming and all the other kind of functionality of Hue.   You have your White Ambiance, which gives you access to all shades of white.  And then full color.”

And you can mix the different kinds of bulbs depending on your needs in a particular room.
