Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.     When it comes to kids and screen time…  what’s a parent to do?   It used to be parents would be concerned about how much time kids were spending watching TV?    Today….you can add the screens on tablets and phones to the mix.   Patty Wipfler is the author of a book called Listen…Five Simple Tools to Meet Your Everyday Parenting Challenges.   She says give this a try…

“You set aside ten minutes, doesn’t have to be a long time, in fact sometimes it’s way better if it’s short.   Because you can pay attention for ten minutes without running to your screen, answering the phone or putting dinner on the stove.  So you set aside ten minutes and you say I’ll do anything you want to play, what do you want to play?   And you can say, we’re not going to do screens, anything else at all.”

Wipfler, whose title is now out as an audio book says, you’ll be surprised at how well that can work.
