Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.   Here’s a story we got tipped off to by our friends and affiliate station in Portland.     In the little town of Cottage Grove, Oregon…inventor Dean Still….has been playing with fire…for years.   And now the EPA is providing funding for him and his company to commercialize a prototype clean burning wood cook stove…that also provides power…using a  thermo electric generator…

“That’s basically just two pieces of metal that expand at different rates when they get hot.  And so that difference makes electricity and so we’re aiming for fifteen watts.   Now that doesn’t sound like a lot but that’s enough to have lights in your kitchen.”

And charge up your smartphones and other devices.   And the aim is to make the electricity generating cook stove affordable…perhaps in the five hundred dollar range.   The newest isn’t there yet, but you can find more info at StoveTecStore.net.
