Spurring kids towards science, technology, engineering and math

Techstination feature for Tuesday, July 24, 2018

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.        Spurring the imagination of kids towards science, technology engineering and math.    There are lots of toys these days that use the buzzword STEM to try to sell parents on the benefits.  At Piper Computer….Mark Pavylukovskyy…has created kits that allows children to interactively build their own computers…

“There’s a screen, there’s the motherboard, which is the Raspberry Pi.  There’s a power source …there’s a mouse…there’s a wooden case that actually you build.”

Pavylukovskyy actually started working on the idea while he was still a student at Princeton University.   Check out PlayPiper.com for more.   There are low tech ways to spur imaginations too…even with toddlers.  Kids love to dress up…and a company called Little Medical School helps them pretend.     They were created…of course…by a doctor.

You can find us at Techstination.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
