Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.      In case you haven’t noticed…the best known names in digital SLR cameras are moving into mirrorless models in a big way.  Cannon and Nikon are pushing into the territory pioneered by Olympus, Panasonic and Sony.   At Cannon, the new EOS R  full frame camera was one of the star’s at this fall’s PhotoPlus Expo in New York.  Canon’s Drew MacCallum says the new lens mount…closer to the sensor…since there is no mirror..makes a big difference.  For instance with Canon’s new 50 millimeter 1.2 for mirrorless…

“You can imagine this lens being just a few millimeters shy of the sensor, our image quality actually goes up quite a bit.  The sharpness level goes up a lot.   So you’ll see this 50 mm, compared to many other 50s, is extremely sharp.  Simply because of it’s size.”

There’s much more to come in mirrorless cameras. Find more at USA.Canon.com.
