Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    The man who launched TrueCar and Cars Direct is at it again.    Scott Painter has created an app called FAIR….designed to help consumers get the car of their choice…without having to tie up their own credit for a purchase or lease.  FAIR now has backing from  BMW, Daimler and the Penske Auto Group….and says Painter, it works like this…

“You’re basically subscribing to a car and this is really about a transition to a more service based economy, or a car as a service.  Where instead of having to go out and take a large auto loan, you’re basically getting the car you want, for as long as you want, on a monthly basis.”

The cars offered are used vehicles…mostly those coming back from lease.  FAIR has launched in L.A. with plans to go nationwide next year.
