A drone for kids controlled by hand gestures: Aura Drone

Techstination feature for Monday, December 4, 2017

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    A drone that kids control with hand movements…. Like magic.     LocoRobo Innovations made the Toy Insiders’ Top Tech 12 list for the Aura Drone.   It uses technology originally developed for military applications.  It’s a hand worn controller using what the company calls Gesturebotics.  Co-founder Pramod Abichandani….

“You put this controller on your hand and basically the controller connects with the drone, makes sure that it remains connected to the drone, and using the wave of a hand …forward, backward, left, right, you can navigate the drone with no problems.”

Easy enough for kids as young as six.    But fun for anyone.    You can find the Aura Drone for about eightyfive dollars.   This is designed for indoor use….and the flight time on a charge…is just a little more than five minutes.
