Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.    If you have an Amazon Alexa…and it seems like who doesn’t these days….one of the great and fun things you can do with it is control your lights and lots more just by using your voice.   iHome has been growing its line of smart home gear.   One of the newest is a smart plug that can work indoors or out and can handle up to 18 hundred watts.   And it can be controlled via Amazon, Apple or Google devices.   Director of business and product development Gary Schultz says iHome is out with new sensors too…for water, motion and doors and windows.   They don’t require a hub, connect with WiFi and are battery operated…

“So we optimized the software to get good battery life, up to three years for example with our leak detector,  out of just simple double A batteries.  So very unique, very secure too, with the highest level of TSL data encryption.”

And the sensors sell for under thirty dollars.
