A hammock or a tent? It's both. Lawson Blue Ridge Camping Hammock

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear.   I’m Fred Fishkin.        Designing a hammock…that can double as a tent….or maybe it’s a tent that doubles as a hammock.       Wes Johnson is the founder of the Lawson Hammock Company….and he went through a lot of trial and error before coming up with the Blue Ridge Camping Hammock.      It can be suspended like a typical hammock…and in that mode it has curved supports for mosquito netting.   But the supports keep the hammock from sagging so much in the middle….making it more comfortable    And it can also be set up on the ground.   And Johnson is adding to the product line…

“We have an underquilt now which is basically a sleeping bag to insulate the bottom of the hammock for colder weather camping.   We have some new hammock straps that we designed that are very useful.  And most recently have launched a new hammock chair.”

The  process was a challenge….but Johnson was able to secure a patent for his hammock tent design.
