The last thing that the industry needs is to have an "a" versus "b" versus "g" versus whatever argument. So what we're doing in this device is we're building in support simultaneously for both the main standards that are out there right now, which is A and B. So the user doesn't need to worry about that, you just get which ever is the best link at any time."
The company is also planning to use wireless technology to connect PCs to TVs and stereos as part of its Extended Wireless Initiative. Intel is hoping the new Banias processors will help it maintain its edge over AMD in the notebook computer market... .which continues to fare better than the market for desktop PCs.
