"It has a sleek all in one design like the Apple iMac ... only it's faster."
Gateway senior VP Brad Shaw... says the campaign is having an impact...
"Well we've seen some pretty strong consumer interest in the Profile 4 as a result. What's great is that we're seeing a nice uplift in traffic. It's driving a lot of attention, a lot of buzz."
The new Profile line starts at under a thousand dollars... not bad for any PC that includes an LCD display. And comparing it side by side with Apple's latest iMac... here's what I found. It offers USB 2.0 and Firewire and networking connectivity right out of the box... .a software bundle that includes Microsoft Word... .and faster processing speeds. What's missing is the option of a DVD recordable drive...
"We're actually looking to continue to rev the product as we go down the pike. So there are other features that will be added. I don't want to tip competitively tip our hand yet to what those might be, but you'll see improvements along the line."
Keep in mind... all in one machines... aren't for everyone... .especially tinkerers or gamers who might want to upgrade video cards or others components. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
