"Digital photography and digital video is very popular in the consumer market and you often see users with multiple devices. Perhaps a digital camera and a digital camcorder and often they don't come from the same manufacturer. And that's why we believe there's a huge market for these kind of multimedia USB readers."
And the price, under forty dollars, makes them affordable. Asante, Lexar and others make the devices. If you have a newer computer with fast USB 2.0 ports, SanDisk is just out with a high speed six in one device. The gadgets let you copy data between memory cards as well... so you could copy photos for instance from a digital camera compact flash card... to an SD memory card for your PDA. Other flash memory key chain type devices are growing in popularity too. They easily let you transport files from home to work for instance without carrying around a laptop. Iomega includes security software in its Mini USB devices... with capacities of 64 or 128 megabytes. Lexar is out with a high speed USB Jump Drive 2.0... .that stores 256 megabytes worth of digital information... photos, music... you name it. It sells for about two hundred dollars. Look for prices to come down in the months to come.
