MemoryFrame For Digital Photos

Techstination feature for Friday, February 21, 2003

A digital picture frame, with no subscription. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Photo frames that can display digital pictures on an LCD screen have been around for a while. One of the most popular has been a frame called Ceiva... that receives pictures through the Internet and carries a subscription fee of 7.95 a month. The frame itself sells for 150 dollars. Pacific Digital has a new device out called the MemoryFrame. It sells for more than twice the price, but there is no subscription fee. Vp Tony Tate...

"The MemoryFrame is unique product. It is a digital picture frame that is USB. They can simply transfer the pictures into a picture frame via USB, which is an easy to connect type of interface, and then view 50 plus photos back on the MemoryFrame's TFT LCD screen."

It displays 5 by 7 photos, automatically adjusting the resolution of the pictures being downloaded to it. It can connect directly to a camera, a memory card reader or a PC. It is cool, but still the price is on the high side for a lot of consumers. Even with what the company calls, its universal picture frame feature...

"What that means is that you can go down to any frame shop and buy a 5 by 7 standard picture frame and snap it onto the MemoryFrame. That will enable you to make it match the décor in your house."

Placement can be tricky... because unlike other frames... this one has to be plugged in. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
