"A good example would be a restaurant guide, a movie picking application, if the person's inside a corporation they might be interacting with things like a corporate directory or a corporate news service."
Lea Hickman, Macromedia's senior director of market development. The idea, she says is to give developers a simple way to promote software created with Macromedia tools..
"For the end user, the application environment or Central, is freely available. They can purchase or try applications within the environment. So with each copy of Central the user will receive an application called the Application Finder, which will be a listing of all the applications that are available for trial or purchase."
The tools are being made available to developers now... with Macromedia planning to have the technology available for consumers this summer...
"End users can go to Macromedia.com and look in the product section and they'll be able to get more information about the Central environment as well as what applications will be available."
Macromedia expects there will be a wide variety in both sophistication and price. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
