Sharing Digital Photos on the Family TV

Techstination feature for Monday, April 14, 2003

Sharing digital pictures on the family TV. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. With more and more people taking photos with digital cameras, there are a variety of ways to share those pictures on a big screen... instead of the little LCDs found on most cameras. The fastest and cheapest way is to use the video out port you'll find on many cameras to connect them directly to a TV. Another option is to use a software package to create a slide show that can be burned onto a CD or DVD... .and watched using a standard DVD player. But that takes time. San Disk has created a solution for instant slide shows... with its Digital Photo Viewer. Marketing manager Tanya Chuang...

"You basically take San Disk's Digital Photo Viewer, connect it to the TV, and you just plug it in and it starts working with the pictures that are on your card."

One of the advantages is the versatility of the device in accepting a wide variety of memory card types.

"It actually accepts all the popular standard media formats. Compact flash type 1, type 2, Smart Media, Secure Digital, multi-media cards and Memory Stick. So it has four different slots with LED lights to make it extremely convenient for the consumer when they're inserting the card into the Digital Photo Viewer that they will know whether it's on or off."

A remote is included as well. The price is under seventy dollars. There are cheaper solutions... but San Disk has made digital slide shows fast and convenient. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
