Palm expands its handheld lineup. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Palm sells two different lines of handheld computers. Those branded Tungsten are aimed at business users and the Zire, which is targeted at consumers. The first Zire, introduced towards the end of last year, was a 99 dollar entry model that became a best seller over the holidays. Now comes Zire71... at three times the price...

"The big feature in this is an integrated camera. It's a great new design, innovatively designed camera of VGA resolution. It's got a high resolution, it also has MP3 playback capability and video playback capabilities."

Product manager Raj Doshi. The camera is neatly hidden behind a slide down case. The Zire71 is equipped with 16 megabytes of memory and the latest, more powerful Palm operating system. There's also a new member of the Tungsten family, the Tungsten C, with built in 802.11 wireless networking... and a built in keyboard. Product manager Paul Osborne..

"This is actually the first sort of more business oriented device with wireless technology built in that provides full PDA functionality. All the application needs, memory expansion, that has the hard keyboard as well as the write on screen technology. Tons of expansion. We actually have the SDIO card slot as well as this is the first Palm OS device to build in 64 megs of memory."
