"But we're also asking Americans across the country, no matter what your level of photography is to use a digital camera, take pictures of your family, your neighborhood, your community, your pets and send them to us on our Web site, America24-7.com, and they could be used in the book."
The digital photos have to be taken before May 18th. Camera maker Olympus is a partner in the project, but Cohen says any type of digital camera can be used...
"The great thing about digital photography is that it's unleashed this amazing creativity and people can instantly send their pictures, we can instantly receive them. The best picture editors in the country are going to be looking at these photographs. We hope that we'll discover the great new digital photographers of the future."
Cohen says the hope is the photos will tell personal stories. The initial America 24-7 book will be published this fall. There are plans to create separate publications for each state next year...
