"This is called the World Vibrations Radio Station and it is a radio station that does 95 percent of what a normal, high end radio station would do in a box, just a little bit larger than a shoebox. It has actually two rooms of a radio station built inside of this box."
Entrepreneur Russ Johnson worked with VIA Technologies to create the computer... .which can be used for Web-casting... or when hooked up to a transmitter... run a regular broadcast radio station...
"It can be either operated live or automated, fully automated, 24 hours a day with precisely scheduled programs. Also in this box is a production studio where you can produce another program while the radio station is running in the background."
The market would seem to be pretty limited for the two two hundred dollar World Vibrations system... but Johnson hopes to attract interest from a variety of possible buyers... organizations, communities, colleges and commercial broadcasters...
"We're talking about serious broadcasting here that can do anything from a music station and shuffle music according to precise categories and criteria... to real, say, public radio or features..sort of block programming."
While you can start your own radio station on the Internet, keep in mind you will have to pay Webcasting license fees to be able to use commercial music. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
