"It's the only drive that does all the recording formats currently available. So it does all the CD and DVD formats in one drive."
The differing standards have been confusing... plus and minus R and RW... and DVD RAM. Iomega solves the problem by being able to use all of the flavors. What you will need for the external drive is a high speed USB 2.0 port on your PC or notebook. If you don't have one... add on cards are available for under 35 dollars. Iomega is selling the drive for 329 dollars, about the same price as an external multi-format drive from Sony. But, Giannini says...
"This drive, over and above the dual drives, does DVD RAM, which is a format specifically targeted toward data archiving and back up."
An internal version of the drive is selling for under 260 dollars. Ironically, the CD and now DVD burning drives have diminished sales of the Zip drives... where Iomega made its name. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
