Samsung displays product manager Monica Islas. Computer systems... even at the low end... are now starting to include LCD monitors. Makers like Samsung have been adding features to distinguish themselves from competitors. Islas says there are widescreen formats, models that can double as TVs... and high definition TVs. One of the newest is the Syncmaster 173P...

The street price is about 550 dollars. A 17 inch LCD 65 series from NEC Mitsubishi sells for about the same price. VP Jason Topel says it also has some unique design features... including an acrylic shield...

Demand has been growing so fast there are some part shortages. That means prices for LCD displays may not be going down much more for a while.
