New Photoshop Album From Adobe

Techstination feature for Friday, November 7, 2003

A new Photoshop Album from Adobe. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. The leading maker of software for working with digital images has updated the program it introduced last year designed to help consumers keep their photos organized. Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen...

"Many consumers, for the first time ever, are moving from traditional film photography to digital photography. But what they're finding is they now have thousands and thousands of images or photographs to manage. And what Photoshop Album 2.0 does is seamlessly organize all of those images regardless of where they reside. It also seamlessly allows people to share their precious images, either through email, burning CDs or creating picture albums."

Adobe has retained the time line... that lets you easily find photos by date. It has added some new features for organizing images by collections... and transferring them to Palm devices, cell phones... and even Tivos that include the Home Media Option. But the competition is getting tougher from companies including Microsoft... which has done a credible job with its Digital Image Suite software. About the threat, Chizen says...

"We believe the amount of image science that we have at Adobe, the amount of research and development that we spend on digital photography, will allow us to maintain our leadership position."

Photoshop Album 2.0 sells for under fifty dollars. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
