Engineering a better cellphone headset. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. More and more wireless phones are being sold that include what is called Bluetooth technology. They are capable of connecting to Bluetooth wireless headsets... .even if the phone is up to 30 feet away... .and some car makers are starting to incorporate the technology into vehicles as well. That will let owners of Bluetooth equipped phones mesh wirelessly and automatically with car sound systems. For now, one of the problems with many Bluetooth headsets is because they use rechargeable batteries... .they are bulkier than wired headsets. And they can get in the way if you happen to wear glasses. A company called Cardo Systems has created a headset it calls Allways... that gets around that problem. Sales and marketing director Tony Barbara... .

"The unit is the only unit in the Bluetooth headset marketplace that will allow the user to attach the headset to eye and sun glasses." If you have a Bluetooth cell phone, you can clip this on your glasses. "That's correct. As well as a standard ear loop."

Cardo Systems has plenty of competiton from companies like Jabra... which makes the FreeSpeak Bluetooth headset... and Logitech, which has been pioneering the use of Bluetooth technology in PCs. It's new headset features seven hours of talk time... and up to a month of standby time on a battery charge. It, like the Cardo Allways headset, sells for 99 dollars.
