"The quarter was driven in large part, as it has been in the past, by some of the new things we've done. In this case new selection, the gourmet food store and also the jewelry store came in in time for the holidays." Is there a need to expand product categories in 2004, or how do you drive continued growth? "We will continue expanding product categories and building selection within product categories." What kinds of things are you looking at? "In our electronics business for example, we have in just the last year, increased selection by forty percent." Downloadable music... Apple is out there with iTunes... 2003 was a big year. Hewlett Packard has said that they can't do it any better. They're going to be offering iTunes and the iPod player. What about that business for Amazon.com? "Well that's a space we continue to look at. Digital products in general we're very interested in. If we're going to do something in that area, we'll do it in a very high quality way and try to do something special and innovative for our customers. We like to do things in new ways that actually are meaningful to customers."
