You see your photos right away on little LCD screens….and you never have to buy film. But digital cameras do use flash memory. There are different types of flash memory cards….from SD to Memory Stick and Compact Flash…just to name a few. What most camera owners never give much thought to…is the dust and dirt that can wind up on memory card contacts. That's where a company called Norazza is hoping to carve out a business…selling kits to clean memory cards. CEO Tom Sperazza…

"Digital cameras are out in a very dirty environment generally. They're in the bottom of a baby stroller carriage or they're on the beach with sun tan oil and sand or maybe they're alongside a horse track where it's dusty or a soccer field or whatever. They're just not always in the cleanest environments. The digital media slot, the digital media is your film that goes inside the camera. When that digital media slot becomes dirty or contaminated, you'll start to have errors with your camera. You'll think you took a picture and it's not going to be saved on your digital media card. Or you'll put your card into your camera and you're going to get a read error of some sort."

Most memory cards can take a pretty good beating and still work. I haven't run into problems yet…but there is always a chance that when you need your camera to work most…it won't.
