"Continuous back up so it aggregates all your content on all your computers in your home, or small office, or small business. And then the next thing it does is it makes it all accessible to you through remote access. Meaning you're out of your office, out of your home and you say…oh, I left that file at home, and I really need it and I'm on the road. You can get it."
The remote secure connection is made through Mirra's Web site at no extra charge. You can also share the files with friends, relatives or co-workers if you choose to. The automatic back ups of your files…can save collections of digital photos, music or other documents…if a hard drive fails or your PC is hit with a virus. How big might the market for personal servers like this become?
"We think the market is going to be huge. Because everybody recognizes that the digital photographs they're taking, the music they're buying, the videos that they're taking digitally…have a lifespan which is greater than the computer that they put it on."
So backing up…is a necessity. Prices start at about 400 dollars…for an 80 gigabyte version of the Mirra. That's M I R R A. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
