"And we've been able to build a site that's got the largest amount of content, the most interesting array of different songs and so forth, where a consumer can download sheet music from that site, transpose it to different keys, change the instrumentation, hear it played back. So rather than just delivering the print, which it also does…it can print out a copy…we're also enhancing the experience."
Individual songs typically sell for 3.95…some bundles are less. About how the company prevents the illegal copying of those digital files, Morton says…
"On our site, there's a technology built into it called Scorch, which protects the file. It limits it to being serialized to the PC itself. It also embeds a code into it so it can only be printed one time and it puts other limitations for it being transferred. So we feel fairly secure that we're prohibiting mass distribution, although there's always a thirteen year old out there somewhere that could crack it and make it more difficult."
