A one handed computer keyboard. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Small keyboards that attach to PDAs and some cell phones can be handy for entering large amounts of data. They use the typical QWERTY keyboard layout, even though the only way to type on some of the smaller ones is with your thumbs, similar to a Blackberry device. Now a company called FrogPad is marketing a keyboard with a whole new layout…designed to be used with one hand. A USB version is out now…with a wireless Bluetooth model due later this month. "In the global, portable, wireless Internet world, there is a need to be fully functional. There is a need for a human computer interface that allows you to do every single thing while you're standing in line or in a subway."

The new layout…with the most used keys being the easiest to reach…is clever…but using it does require some re-training. The company faces other obstacles… such as how many people will be willing to carry the five and a half by three and a half inch keyboard around? And how many will be willing to pay 170 dollars or more for the device? But the FrogPad founder is confident…

"This product, especially the Bluetooth technology that we have, will be the predominant human computer interface keyboard, data entry device, for the portable, wireless Internet."
