More movies…on your PC. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Most people who want to watch movies at home…typically rent or buy DVDs….or scroll through the premium movie channels on cable or satellite. But with more and more households using cable or DSL for high speed Internet connections…the idea of downloading movies is starting to catch on. Movie studios have banded together for one service called MovieLink…where you can download individual films for a fee. Now the Starz channel has partnered with Real Networks…to offer online access to up to 100 movies a month for a 12.95 monthly subscription. Real's founder and CEO Rob Glaser…

"It's basically the same line up you'd see on the Starz broadcast or cable network or satellite network, but instead of having to watch it when it's broadcast on the network, you can pick from any movie in the library, hit the download button and depending on your connection…20, 30 minutes later, you've got the movie down there. In addition, not only do you have access when you want it, but then once it's on your laptop computer you can take it anywhere you bring your computer."

The movie will remain available for the month it is on the service unless you delete it sooner.

"You can watch all one hundred if you want."

The online DVD rental service NetFlix…has announced plans to offer downloadable movies as well. The Starz service…allows subscribers to set parental controls….schedule downloads overnight….and store movies on as many as three computers. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
