Adobe's New Video and Still Editing Bundle

Techstination feature for Wednesday, September 22, 2004

A new bundle for editing digital video and still photos. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Adobe Systems has announced its first consumer digital video editing software… Premiere Elements….and it is updating its consumer photo editing package…Photoshop Elements. And…says product manager Tapan Bhatt…

"We are offering Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements together, in a bundle, for 149.99. And so basically what that is, no matter what your photo or video needs are, you've got it all taken care of."

The products sell separately for a hundred dollars each. Premiere Elements is designed to work exclusively with DV camcorders….and simplifies the addition of special effects, music and menus. On the digital photo side, Photoshop Elements 3 goes head to head with Microsoft's capable new Digital Image Suite 10…

"Microsoft has been competing with us in the consumer photo editing space. I think the market has spoken. We have a significantly better market reception and market share than them. One of the biggest advantages that we have is that we have hobbyist level organization and editing and sharing. So for example, they have a very wizard type approach. Photoshop Elements believes in giving you basic tools, but also giving you the freedom to go and soar and try lots of different things."

The new Photoshop Elements folds in the capabilities of Photoshop Album for organizing your pictures. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
