Music lessons…in the digital age. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. There's been some impressive software on the market for years from companies like eMedia…that can help you get started learning to play the piano or guitar. And Yamaha, which runs the most popular music schools in the world, is now using the Internet to help people learn how to play. Using a free software application from a Web site called DigitalMusicNotebook.com, the company lets you download sheet music and sound files…that teach. Yamaha's Jim Presley…

"Literally you can have a song playing, you can be looking at the sheet music on your computer screen, you can be looking at a video showing the hand positions and two hands actually playing the music and all of these things are operating in sequence with each other. So as a marker moves across the music, you're hearing the music in sync with that marker and you're also seeing the hands playing the music. And beyond that if you've downloaded a package that is a very popular artist, in some cases you'll also be able to get a video of the type you might see on MTV or VH1."

When you purchase a song through the Digital Music Notebook site, it allows you to print up to three copies of the sheet music. Yamaha also makes keyboards that use an Internet Direct Connection….and are able to download songs without the need for a computer. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
