More help, making DVDs. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Making DVDs from your home videos still seems pretty daunting to lots of consumers…according to recent surveys…60 percent of camera owners never attach them to computers for editing. But software tools are making it easier all of the time. The latest version of VideoStudio from Ulead Systems… version 9….gives you the option of using editing tools….including some new MTV and other special effects….or going directly from your digital camcorder…to the DVD burner in a PC. Product manager Ian Andes….

"We like to think of it as a very scalable program. So you have someone who really doesn't have the time, maybe they're on a plane, just came back from vacation…and all they want to do is plug in their camera, go straight to DVD. You have an intermediate wizard, where maybe they want to have some more control. You can add your titles, go in mark different ins and outs or trim your video so you don't have all of that wasted footage you're not looking for and we'll even supply you with a whole bunch of background templates. So you can give it the theme of a vacation or a birthday party, etcetera. And of course the final step is the Video Studio editor itself where you can go in, you have full control. There's a pile of effects and things you can do within the program..including one of the new key features is going to be green screen abilities."

Which lets you manipulate video so you can look like you're in Hawaii…instead of your basement. VideoStudio 9 lists for about a hundred dollars. Owners of previous versions can upgrade for half the price. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
