Adding to iPods. The accessory business keeps growing. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Do a search on Google these days for iPod accessories….and the results top more than six million Web listings. No doubt many are redundant…but still, it gives you an idea of how many companies are trying to cash in on the popularity of Apple's digital music players. At Altec Lansing, the latest add-on is the inMotion iM7 Portable Speaker System. IPods can simply snap in the front of the tube shaped white boom box design…and other devices can plug into the back. Senior VP Bob Garthwaite says it's designed to fill almost any size room with sound…

"It's got five drivers, actually. Two tweeters in the front and two mid-range drivers in the front and a sub-woofer out the side. So it's a very powerful device, fifty watts, as well as great fidelity."

Is there a problem selling an add on like this that costs as much as some iPods..at 250 dollars? Garthwaite says Apple's customers are different…

"They're very value conscious, they're very design savvy. In general, they're willing to pay more for good quality and good design and that's proven itself out in our line of speakers because they're not low end speakers by any means, but they've all sold very, very well."

Other iPod add on speakers from the company start at about 130 dollars. Rivals, including Bose, are making iPod white sound systems as well. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
