Help is just a click away. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. Lots of people have friends or relatives they can count on to help fix computer problems when they crop up….as they inevitably do. The folks at 3am Labs….makers of LogMeIn software….have devised a new tool to make the job a little more convenient. CEO Michael Simon says LogMeIn Rescue is designed for remote support….without the need to install software on problem computers….

"LogMeIn Rescue allows a technician to instantly access a remote person's computer expressly for the purpose of servicing it and helping solve problems."

Professional service companies will pay 99 dollars a month for unlimited use of LogMeIn Rescue. It's also available for everyday folks…say students away at college who need to help their parents out with a PC problem….for five dollars per incident….

"You can install and run Rescue at no charge and then as you use it…as a pay as you go…simply five dollars per session. And a session lasts 24 hours, it's not like two minutes or anything like that so it gives you enough time to solve the problem and help out the person you are trying to work with."

It is a Web based, on demand service….so it would not be of use if the problem with the PC is preventing Internet access. 3AM Labs now has one and a half million users of its LogMeIn software that allows you to access your home or office PC from any Web browser. A free, basic version is available at logmein.com. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
