"Students love this type of product for their dorm because they need a computer monitor and of course, they want to have a TV. Why not combine those devices into one. In smaller offices, it's great because people are handling more and more streaming video and they want to handle that in the way they do a TV. And the 930mp allows for that capability."
What some may find puzzling…given the HD capability…is Samsung's decision not to make the model wide screen…
"The 19 inch…the widescreen format just doesn't work out right. The aspect ratio and the pixels don't quite line up in the way that's more common for a viewing experience. As you go forward into larger sizes, the widescreen makes more sense than it does in the smaller sizes."
Even so, you'll find many notebook PCs with 17 inch wide screens. The SyncMaster 930mp sells for under 800 dollars. You can find other combination monitor TVs on the market….in the four hundred dollar price range. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
