"We're integrating a biometric sensor into every one of these BX notebooks. And what that biometric sensor allows a user to do is to basically replace up to 25 passwords that they might have to remember in many applications that require a password and instead utilize just a swipe of their finger to gain access to that application."
Some models also include built in cameras that can be used with a subscription based video conferencing service…or with other Web cam software, a feature that consumers, other than business customers, may like as well. Sony thinks there may be an opportunity for it to gain ground in the notebook PC business….with the takeover of IBM's personal computer business by China's Lenovo…
"That takeover of the IBM PC company by Lenovo is an opportunity for Sony, and the reason why I say that is we've heard from some of our customers that there is concern about that particular situation."
