Protecting your computer screen from prying eyes. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. With lots of folks doing their banking and investing online….and sometimes dealing with sensitive information at work….how do safeguard that information when you walk away from your PC? There are password solutions you can use that are built into Windows, but a company called Digital Innovations has created a device called the PC Defender Screen Lock. The company's Stephen Kohler says…

"Let's say you happen to be working on a confidential spreadsheet in your office or you're working on a memo that you don't want other people in your office or your home to see. The way it would work is, you plug a little USB drive device, very small, into a USB jack on the back of your computer. You'd carry a little round device about the size of a large quarter in your pocket. When you the user walk away from the PC, say five to ten feet away, the system will automatically close the screen you'v e been working on and bring up a screen guard if you will. And the purpose being nobody can see what you've been working on."

When you return…your system is unlocked automatically. If the USB key is removed…the screen locks until it is put back…or until you type in a back up password. The PC Defender is part of a new line of products the company calls SecurityDR. It sells for about thirty dollars.
