"Plug in your camera, into your PC like you would normally do, Grouper pops up. It asks you if you want to take those photos and put them onto your hard drive. Then it asks you if you want to edit those photos or videos. If you say yes, we have a very simple editing software that lets you edit your videos. One more step is show it to your friends and family. And you click on a group that you would have created. It's shared, and your friends and family get an invitation to from you to go view that video."
While short clips of public videos are stored on Grouper's servers, most of the sharing is done peer to peer…meaning you need to have your computer on with a high speed Internet connection for this to work….
"It's not a technology that consumers need to understand. What it does is…it allows me to connect directly to any of my friends and family without a middleman."
Grouper hopes to make money through advertising….and perhaps some premium services down the road. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
