Taking better digital pictures. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. With digital cameras and cameras in cell phones, lots of people are taking more pictures these days. There's no film to buy…and you get to see your photos right away. And there's plenty of advice available from camera and software makers if you want to learn to make your pictures better. Nikon and Kodak are among the companies that can help. And now, there's a new Web site that takes a different approach, using instructional videos. Alex Stevens is the CEO of JustShowMeHowTo.com….

"On the Web site, we do it all through video. Because we feel like the best way for people to see it is to actually see it. They're not reading about how to take a picture. They're watching a photographer do it. They're hearing how he's going through the steps and the things he's thinking about in taking that actual picture. And the videos are tailored to one specific picture taking situation. It's not a big book of here's how to take pictures. It's a very specific tailored video on here's how to take a picture of a sunset or a beach or your children. We have some general tips on taking a picture of a person or taking pictures in nature. We can also be very specific because we find that people have very specific questions. Our photographers and the folks we work with have taught tens of thousands of people."

Unlike many other sites, this one is not free. Each video costs a dollar 99. They are well produced and contain lots of useful tips…and run about three minutes per subject. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
