Another way to share files online. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. There are lots of ways for families to share digital photos and other files. They range from good old email…which often has file size limitations….to Kodak's Easy Share Gallery….to services like Streamload.com. A new concept…comes from a company called TransMedia….which is out with a file sharing solution called Glide Effortless. CEO Don Leka….

"Basically consumers have an online hard drive in Glide where they can simply import all of their files, their folder structures, their my documents folders, they can basically upload their photos, their music, their videos, their documents. Not only are the files uploaded and the file structure retained, but also the files are transcoded into streaming previews, small medium and large previews."

You can use the basic service for free… it provides up to 300 megabytes of storage. Other plans with more storage range from five dollars a month to a family plan for 150 dollars a year. In addition to file sharing…Glide offers personal Web sites…email and conferencing….

"You can import your contacts. We have support for the Mac and the PC. So you can import your contacts from Outlook or from the address book on the Mac. This way you can have all of your contact information, all of your files. But now those files are online, they are easy to share."

The software isn't completely without glitches….very little software is. But families may find the service at glidedigital.com…makes sharing much more simple. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I'm Fred Fishkin.
