"First we'll start with simple things like integrated voice mail. At times I find it as a consumer, frustrating. I have to track two or three different voice mail boxes. So I can have one integrated voice mail box for my home phone calls and also for my mobile calls. The next thing that I can do is take a look at entertainment and programming my DVR. So if I'm away from town…today you and I are in Las Vegas… I happen to live in Kansas City, I'm a Time Warner customer…wouldn't it be nice if I had the capability to program a baseball game I may be missing tonight and say go ahead and set that up on the recorder. Those are two examples of services we'll be coming out with."
And Lauer says his partnerships will give him an edge over the competition…
"Well the main advantage we'll have over primarily Verizon and AT&T is time to market. The cable companies lead the marketplace in entertainment and video offerings. And that's out there. Verizon's and AT&T's are going to take years to build out that network."
