Video games on small screens….like the one on your cell phone. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today's technology. While new video game consoles are grabbing headlines of late…..game makers are putting more resources into games that can be played on cell phones. Electronic Arts the number one maker of video games…paid nearly 700 million dollars to buy Jamdat Mobile at the end of last year. At I-play…another independent maker of games for mobile phones…CEO David Gosen says…

"When you develop for mobile games, you have to understand that mobile is not console. And that's something that I-play has at its heart. We're also believing that this is a real casual gaming market. This is not about hardcore console style games. And the reason for that is the limitations of the mobile phone are also its advantages. It forces you to create simple and intuitive game play. But also, 48 percent of people that download a game are women. And that's very unlike consoles."

So among I-play's top selling games…is Jewel Quest, with a million downloads in less than a year. There are console type games…including mobile editions of Maria Sharapova Tennis and Fifa Football…but they are designed for quick play…

"If console gaming is a three course meal, mobile gaming is a snack."
